I love playing the sticky note game but for the kids it can be quite tricky to come up with questions to ask, remember what you have already asked and what your answers are. Mask N Ask is a great introduction into the sticky note game and also really good at helping them with logic puzzles.
It’s a hilarious family game that is guaranteed to have you all roaring with laughter – and that’s just at the sight of all your opponents wearing silly glasses. The object of the game is to be the first to guess who you are. There are animals and people to choose from – the animals are easier for the younger kids – and you get someone else to fasten your card to your glasses so you don’t see who you are.
The board that comes with the game is a really great way of helping younger kids think of questions to ask and remember what answers they got. You spin the spinner, count that number of places around the board in any direction you fancy and then ask the question you land on. You get a card disc with yes on one side and no on the other to place on that question in your colour so you can remember what the answer was.
Plus the pictures of all the people or animals around the edge of the board are a great help in identifying what you might be.
Our 7-year old daughter loved this game and asks to play it all the time. She loves having to work out who she might be from her answers as well as coming up with some of her own questions to narrow it down.
For our 5-year old this was too advanced. He couldn’t sit still long enough and didn’t enjoy the fact that the game takes time to play and requires you to really think. The box does say it’s for 7+ and having tried it on our 5 and 7 year olds I think it’s pretty accurate.
The only negative about this game was that the glasses are a little big for small faces so after a while we just attached the cards to their head with hair grips.
NB I have been told that the glasses in the game are now smaller and fit better on young kids.
It’s a brilliant family game that we have loads of fun with. Just be sure not to have any reflective surfaces around as the kids won’t be able to resist having a peek!
Mask N Ask is available from the vast majority of high street toy sellers and retails at around £16.99.
