I had no idea we had a space centre in the UK until I got invited to it for the Lego Galaxy event last week. But we do.
And I’d wholeheartedly recommend going for a visit. It was fascinating.
There was a real wealth of interesting displays, a space shuttle to walk through, a rocket, planetarium and loads of really awesome hands on stuff for the kids.
It was really interesting, and a bit gross, to learn more about living in space; the food they eat and how they use the toilet. Their urine is recycled into drinking water! I told you it was a bit gross.
It was also interesting to see how they sleep. Their bedrooms are the size of small cupboards with a sleeping bag hung up on the wall. It’s incredible. In the video below Chris Hadfield shows you the bedrooms on the International Space Station and how astronauts sleep.
And the fact going into space is really bad for you and your body was very interesting too.
The Space Centre is off the M1 in Leicester and costs £11 for children, £13 for adults, under 5s are free. Check out their opening times and events www.spacecentre.co.uk.
