Remember those long school holidays of our youth? They seemed to stretch on forever, 6 weeks an impossibly long amount of time. Looking back on my childhood they appear have to consisted entirely of playing outside with family and friends, exploring and discovering new places and things.
I can’t count how many trees I climbed, ponds I fished for frogs spawn in and huge hills I rolled down and I want to recreate some of that with my children and give them those memories. Drag them away from the xbox and out into the fresh air, letting them discover and explorer and grow their adventure legs.
Because there’s nothing a child loves more than an adventure, right?
I discovered a list of 50 things to do before you are 11 and 3/4 on my friend’s blog, Grumpyish Mum, and loved it instantly. It’s just perfect for getting outdoors and doing things you might not have thought about yourself.
You can download it from the National Trust website www.50things.org.uk and get out and have some fun. It includes things like climbing trees, catching crabs, setting up a snail race and camping in the wild. all brilliant, fun for under 12’s and all doable completely for free.
Where will you go to hunt for fossils and bones? Which trees will you climb and bike rides will you do?
this is a north West Days Out Linky, if you got a blog post new or old about north west days out, feel free to link up so we can find out about some more great places.
